I think OP is forgetting the #1 rule of business. The consumers are never wrong. If software companies fail it's their own fault.

You say Gamestop is killing the industry, but Walmart, best buy, and other places sell used games too ya know.....

Watch used games be banned and the industry crashes in to the ground, leaving companies saying "Hurr durr why'd we fail?"

Is EA code registration failing their games? No I don't think so.

After reading this thread, I'm Completely for it now. I was a little skeptic at first but this thread has proved it should be done. The people that buy second hand don't help the business anyway. I have first hand with my brother who buys this way all the time.  He never buys new and most likely makes a used game make 2 rounds at a minimum. If you can't afford a $10-$15 code, than maybe you shouldn't be playing games. Plus I already named that all would happen is that Game stop would offer less money for used games. Not a big deal but people are freaking out. You get less money for used games and I pay less when buying new. It's a fair trade because the used buyer is ruining the industry.  it's either that or games have to go up in price. I'm  not willing to pay for assholes like my brother.
Yes he is a cheap fuck.

The problem with your arguement is how one-sided it is second hand games and gamestop had a part to play in this but your trying to make it sound like if you eliminate them it will fix the problem. We moved for SD to HD this generation the budget needed to make a game double sometimes tripled a game that could slel 1 mill or half a mill and be successful now needs to do 2mill to even break even. These games are selling what they are suppose to sell it's just that i'ts not enough anymore it has to do with the corner the industry has painted inself into in terms of how much it take to make a game and how much you can realisticly expect to sell as much as used games.

What about the majority of people trading in games to gamestop put that credit towards new games what about online passes where if you buy used you have to pay for the functionaly of a new game what about micro transations in games that get companies money what about preorder bonuses that force you to buy new. What about companies cutting content from games and on top of the $60 I pay for a game I have to then shell out for dlc.

What about the game they traded in that gets brought back and forth to game stop. I asked yesterday when I was their. I said, how many times do games make it in and out of here, he answered and said a lot. I told him of my blog and he said he really couldn't say much but agreed.  yes this is just anecdotal evidence but it just pushes me more and more that way.
