I think you're assuming Kinect2 will have the same functionality as Kinect. It won't. Kinect 2 is based on a completely different technology that offers much better fidelity as well as the ability to detect in much worse lighting.
Users will be able to walk up to a Kinect enabled Xbox, turn it on via voice, and log into your profile and online by facial identification. If a friend, who's never logged in his profile to your console, steps up, the Xbox will log him in with his profile.
If a user gets an invite to a party or game, he'd be able to open or accept the invite by voice, rather than pressing the Guide button. If a call comes in, or a message is received, the user need only tell his Xbox to answer the call or read the message and the game he's playing, show he's watching, or movie he's watching gets paused and the messaging or Skype app appears.
That's just based on a few of the patents that Microsoft has recently been granted. Combine Kinect 2 with Illumiroom and the Fortaleza glasses, I think Kinect 2 will be a feature that sells the console.
