PC has had mandatory game installations for years and years. And since when has controllers worked on the next generation, aside from Nintendo? if the console truely won't work if not installed and calibrated than kinect 2.0 needs a failure (to calibrate) rate of 0.00%. i dunno, maybe kinect 2.0 is just that good but i'd wager it is not. it will only take a handful of pissed off consumers to flood the twitter-verse with "my $400 console doesn't work in my house" to give xbox8 a bad name.
it just seems too risky of a depenancy to me with all the home size, layout variations that exist.
