I would say far from more violent compared to the west. A lot of violent video games in Japan are imported from the west. |
There has also been Resident Evil 6, Ken's Rage 2, DmC (not completely developed in Japan, but the UK has lower gun crime too), and soon Metal Gear Rising. Also it isn't Japan vs the West, but Japan vs the US.
That's not to say they are more violent overall, but the point is it's not like all their games are rainbows and sunshine.
