More Proteine helps preserving muscle if you eat under maintenance and helps building muscles if you eat over maintenance.

Weightloss has mostly to do with Calories in < Calories out. Less Carbs/Salt will help you lose water weight though.

We eat to many simple Carbs anyway which is not good for muscles which inturn burn calories just by existing. So more proteine is always good but without calorie restriction this alone will not help lose a significant mass of fat.

This, if you want to lose weight the most important thing is to take in less calories than you're losing. Excess protein is turned to fat, so don't just eat a lot of protein thinking you'll lose weight that way.

Eh. Finally a doctor in here. Sort of. In training.

Anything you eat in excess amounts is turned to fat.  For example sugar is not fattening but it is easy to eat in excess amounts which turns into fat.  And most sugar products are already high in fat anyways.  There is also a difference between healthy fats and unhealthy fats.  Which I will also post more about later.
