Well, they had two options. Play it safe and stick to the original forumla last seen in 2005 (8 years ago) or reenvision the formula while sticking keeping the basics. Although I'm glad they stuck very close to the original, the story and presentation aren't up to par with games released these days.
In the end, there was no pleasing everyone, so they still did a great job.
