Look at what their devs accomplished with games like Uncharted, God of War and Killzone. Now imagine if all PS3 games were at the same level of quality.
They expected PS3 to be the lead/dominate platform. Unfortunately, competetion from Microsoft was too tough and Nintendo got really lucky with the Wii. It was an attack on both of the Playstation's markets. Casual and Hardcore. Looking back, its amazing how well the PS3 has sold and how well it has been supported despite all the mistakes Sony made.
