| Scisca said: Another up-tight Aussie... Are you all like that? Is it cause you walk up-side down all the time and blood hits your heads? I should just ask to read my posts again and think, but I see you're not capable of doing that, so I'll answer. I have never said my currency is "real" for these purposes - I have stated multiple times in this very thread that I am using exclusively US $ or Euro, so stop trying to imply that I said something I didn't. And yes, using the middleman is much easier for me, cause the exchange rate in gaming business are at the same level all the time and they ignore the day-to-day fluctuations of exchange rate between Euro and Złoty. A game that costs Euro 60 always costs the same amount in my country. It also works for the prices of consoles. You tell me the price in Euro or US$ and I know how much it will cost me. On the other hand, you give me the price in AU $ and I have no idea where to put it. Not even the slightest, even knowing the exchange rate. And that ONE price you talk about - go check how the exchange for Wii and Wii U were working just to see how much information can a price in your currency give to anyone outside of your country. Moreover, this forum and this topic includes a worldwide strategy that Sony is supposed to start. If people from all around the globe are to discuss its viability, there is no point in using some wallnut currencies that are used in one small market, which treated in a ridiculous way by the gaming industry. We should stick to what controls 2/3 of the world market and is understandable to everyone. To the article - good for you, but when it comes to gaming industry you guys are treated like the 3rd world even compared to Poland. We have a fixed rate of exchange with Euro, which gives us stability and actually lower prices than the Euro zone, while you never know what you'll end up seeing in the stores. A US$60 game can cost anything from AU$80 to 110, the same goes for consoles. So your currency can't be considered any kind of a reference point, no matter what economists think about it. Just deal with it. |
Resorting to personal attacks now, huh? You're failing to see a LOT of things wrong about your assumption:
1. The original article was in AUD, so your bullshit about "converting it to USD" would have made no difference to begin with. In fact, it would be adding margin of error in the price of the article. If you really wish to know the price, just Google the damn thing straight to your currency, or don't bother reading it at all. The article states AUD$50. You don't go saying "Well that could mean anything from AUD$60 to AUD$80. It's AUD$50...
2. Unlike games, which are sold everywhere from video shops to the major retail duopoly, the article in question is referring to a Sony-instituted SERVICE, which means there is little to no chance for a variance in cost to this. If you're whinging about variance in prices, make sure it's something that would NOT fall in the category of market based competition. It would be absolute stupidity to do otherwise.
I'm going to put this to you again. Nobody's FORCING you to read the article OR make a conversion. If you feel the need to whinge about it, then you really should not even bother reading it. On your statement about having lower prices than the Euro, wow; who HASN'T got lower prices than the Euro. I'll give you an example right now. I bought my WiiU PREMIUM edition console for AUD$279. By your flawed logic, I paid too much, considering the AUD is around parity with the USD. For starters, GST is included in the price, whereas the US price is excluding tax. It's a 10% tax, so divide by 1.1 and you get.....$253.63. What's that? Only $3 above the US RRP? Seems like youe entire rant has been completely pointless and done nothing more than show such an intolerable nature towards an entire nation.
