Take a look at the first year N/A support for each console from major third party publishers. If the game is in blue, that means it was also developed by the publisher. The data was collected using Metacritic. Correct me if anything is incorrect.

Capcom

PS2

Street Fighter EX3-October 2000(Launch window)

Onimusha: Warlords-March 2001

Resident Evil CODE: Veonica X-August 2001

Devil May Cry-October 2001

PS3

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix(PSN)-August 2007

In one year after the launch of each console, Capcom was showing true support of the PS2. The only thing Capcom had done for the PS3 in 12 months was release a downloadable port of an 11 year old puzzle game with updated visuals. Capcom's support cut to 1/4.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night(PSN)-July 2007

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008-October 2007

That's right. It gets worse too. Metal Gear Solid 2 was released one month from the cut off line for PS2 in November. Where is the support? Now I'm not saying that the games Konami came out with for PS2 were all amazing, but at least they were bringing games out. It couldn't have taken more than a week to port Castlevania to the PSN. Pro Evolution Soccer was full of bugs and glitches.

Just to let everyone know, I did not cherrypick these two publishers. They were chosen for the respect in the industry they have, and because their top hits(Metal Gear Solid & Resident Evil) are two of the most hyped games the PS3 has coming in the future. If everyone likes this analysis, I can do more, two at a time. I'm also thinking of doing Wii and 360 ones. Let me know, and let me know what you all think about the support levels. Is it about it being harder to make games for this generation of consoles? Are these third parties shrinking in manpower? Is this about the development problems with the PS3?
