All I have to say is XBOX Live took years to get where it is, you cant really expect that Sonys service is going to be great on day 1. In terms of the accessory comment who really cares? If you want the best experiance you have to pay for it just like everything else in life.
I have a PS3 love it but in my opinion multiplayer is MS territory but then again its free right, so all in all who cares.
