The funny thing is that FFXIII received much better reviews then XIII-2. And then suddenly after the fan backlash, all these journalists who gave the game great scores started to make out like the game was terrible. Regardless of what you thought of XIII, the team actually tried to achieve something. XIII-2 was simply an attempt to generate revenue from assets, in fact its so forced they re-wrote the end of the 1st game just to validate its existence and then tried to justify the made up cannon through terrible time travelling mechanics.

IGN belittle XIII in every FF article yet their review score for the game is 8.9 lol

DIdn't IGN review FF13 at 8.3 both PS3 and 360 versions?

What you've said dosen't sound wrong actually.

I thought FF13 was above average. It got good after the the first 15 hours (yeah everyone said that), but fell flat towards the end in my opinion.

Played the demo of FF13-2 and read the reviews. I thought about it, and I thought if I want monster hunting I will buy Pokemon, if I want quick time events I will buy God of War, if I want multiple decision conversations I will but Mass Effect.

The game didn't really feel like it was doing anything innovative. I'm not saying it wasn't good, but after playing the demo I didn't think the game felt like an improvement over FF13, just something different that was neither better or worst. Although from what I heard the quick time events were actually good.

Yeah, all of the new features were iplemented pretty poorly, even the most enjoyable of which (monster collecting/hunting). It was like they had a checklist and just ticked things off which people complained about as opposed to making them for the sake of our enjoyment and in some cases the "innovations" were forced and unecessary (QT events/Dialouge trees)The demo actually gives off a better impression of the game, particularly because you have to watch this terrible story unfold. Some enjoyment can be  had if you're a sucker for JRPGs but that doesn't make it a good game.
