There is no chance the Insomniac will move multiplatform, Sony would be willing to buy them out if they had to, or to pay for the exclusivity, Insomniac do not have to move platform to get high sales. Ratchet has sold decently, and should move to 1m eventually. Resistance is over 2.3m, which is extremely impressive on the PS3. Resistance 2 should sell even more. Insomniac will stay PS3 exclusive (until PS4)

Except the article hints that they are interested and they have no intention of being bought.

It's true they don't have to move to multiplatform to get more sales but multiplatform still means more sales which means more money which in the end is what it is all about.

Yes, but they'd lose the support of Sony. Would they have been able to come to grips with the ps3 so fast, thus pumping out a new game a year, if it weren't for the fact that they are practically first party?

Multiplatform may increase sales of individual titles, but in the end I don't know if it would be worth it. They're sticking with Sony for a reason, after all.

Read the article: they are not first party.

And there are plenty of developers that are not first party or even practically first party that still get plenty of love from Sony and who can even work just fine with the PS3.

I said "practically" first party.  Insomniac even said that they basically think of themselves as 1st party, even though they are an independent studio.

And I didn't realize that Sony supported all 2nd parties so well.  Insomniac always seemed like the adopted son that fit right in with the rest of the fam, lol. They just seemed like they had a bit more clout than other Sony 2nd parties.  To me, at least.
