A good 20+ filler episodes would do the same trick. And One Piece filler has usually been good enough to watch that they could get away with it
Really, i've been just assuming that they would go for a hefty filler arc at some point for the last two years now, and it hasn't happened yet. The Time Skip would've been their chance, if they had just given everyone 2 episodes of training space and two more eps of general stuff, there's 5 months right there.
