Remembering his stance on Nintendo (business wise it's a definitive console company, unlike MS and Sony), he doesn't seem to change a bit over the years. Practically he's giving voice to what typical 3rd party mindset likely is. Even absoulutely deluded Nintendo won't accept that, the instincts of a console company won't allow that to happen.
