So 'if' the cost was $25 (much more reasonable than your $50) per month, it may be set over two years. So 25x2x12 =$600.
Then, if you wish to continue using PS+ (assuming PS+ was included in the original subscription), I imagine you would pay a much reduced monthly fee from the end of the two years for as long as you wish.
What will be more interesting is whether Sony decides to charge for basic online, like Microsoft.

Nope. If these home consoles sold with contracts are successful enough, then subscription services would become MANDATORY, not optional, just like with cellphones. XBox Live is already mandatory in a way. I would hate to see Playstation Plus go that route.
