Maybe religious parents are more keen to make sure that their kids are introduced to non-violent video games? My parents are religious and they wouldn't even let me watch loosely violent movies back in the day. For the same reason I wasn't allowed to buy Goldeneye until years later :(
I don't know, just a baseless thought of mine.
