I think the Wii U proved more than anything else that Mario alone is not enough to move consoles, and that Nintendo management really has no idea what they are doing anymore.

I wouldn't really say that.  3,000,000 units sold in the time the Wii U has been out isn't that bad, it's just nowhere near what they expected (or what others expected).  It is also CURRENTLY not having much going for it as no games are being released (at least, no big ones).

It's actually under 2 million sold. 3 million would be what they shipped, which is probably going to be sitting on store shelves for a while.

No its not. Please don't post something that is not factual.

By the end of Q3, according to Nintendo's Financial report, the Wii U sold 430k in EUR, 890k in US, and 627k in Japan. Which brings a total of 1.94 million. Add Australia, Canada, Mexico and Latin America, which was not shared by Nintendo, the result is more than ''under 2 million sold.''

Good day.

Canada, Australia, and Latin America are tiny markets. Those are very poor sales, reminscent of the GameCube. They are probably over 2 million but not by much through Christmas, without supply constraints.

Demand for the system is extremely soft, there's no way to spin it. Those Euro sales in particular are horrid, they couldn't even sell half their inventory through Christmas even with a new Mario game.

It's not probably, they ARE over two million. Why always undermine Nintendo's achievements?

Xbox 360 was supply constrained in the begining, and yet sold less than 6 million units WW in the long run during its 1st year on the market (less than Gamecubes' offering). Wii U will most likely outperform Xbox 360's first year on the market but will not have been supply constrained, does that mean it's a flop?

XBox 360 was a system built for 6-7 lifecycle because it's chipset was ahead of the tech curve (so much so that MS had tons of overheating/RROD problems with it).

The Wii U is not.

The XBox 360 was the successor the moderately successful XBox as well, the Wii U is the successor to the Wii, which is one of most successful consoles ever, little bit of a difference there. MS was still building the XBox brand in the early years of the 360.

I'm done. I'm losing my time and patience with you. You are clearly shortsighted regardless of the arguments, and supported facts I bring forth.

Judging by your comment, based on Sony's PS2 success and brand recognition, compared to Nintendo and Gamecube, one would of predicted that the PS3 would be the market leader this generation, and Nintendo a distant third - not the case as of late.
