Anyway, I always thought the NEC Turbo-Xpress (or whatever the spelling was) was the strongest portable of the day. It actually played the exact same carts as the Turbografx-16 console. Not ports--the actual game cartridges.

As for the Game Gear, it had a lot of problems. It was the only color portable I'd played at the time (missed the Lynx and the previously mentioned NEC portable) but something was missing. The graphics weren't very impressive and the battery life was non-existent. It was like a portable Master System if I had to speculate.

So, we have the Game Gear that came out after the Genesis had already raised the bar and we have the Vita which has certain games that look just as good as the best of the current gen (ie: Street Fighter x Tekken). Vita takes it.
