Here is a very interesting use of the latest Nvidia 3D Vision monitors to fix an inherent problem with LCD technology (motion blur). Those remaining CRT monitor owners who were sacrificing esthetics and space in order to get superior monitor performance can finaly put those 30 lbs CRTs away :)

Summary: Nvidia 3D vision monitors that support Lightboost technology use a strobe effect to eliminate 3d ghosting. To do this, the monitor backlight strobes every 2 mili seconds syncing with the active 3d glasses. Someone has figured out that if you set up 3d vision but then disable it the monitor gets locked in 3D mode with LightBoost permanently on however it stays in 2D.
This has the following benefits:
- All games display zero motion blur. Sideways scrolling (worst case acid test) is perfect at all speeds
- Doesn't introduce lag
- No need to use the 3D Vision glasses and 3D mode. 3D Vision has always eliminated motion blur due to the strobing effect of the shutter lenses
- It improves the desktop too, with a perfectly clear mouse during movement (especially sideways) and much clearer windows while being dragged. This is never perfectly clear, because the mouse motion always contains a lot of jitter. It's just the way the blessed things work
- Overall picture quality appears that little bit sharper
I gave it a whirl few moments ago with a BennQ XT2420T and it looks neat. I never had too big of an issue with motion blur but this does look to eliminate it completely.
So yeah, one of the few reasons to spend the extra money and go NVidia over AMD.
