Conspiracies imply a coordinated effort. It's clear in EA's case that something malicious is going on, even if the others might have a better excuse

I don't think so. Nintendo never had a good relationship with 3rd parties outside of Japan. They decided on Wii U specs and features without even consulting anyone but theselves. I Think this is EA's "problem" with Nintendo just like with every other 3rd party.

Then what became of the "unprecedented partnership"?

Who knows...

Ah, but then there's your argument. EA had Wii U dev kits before most companies. With this foreknowledge, they declared an "unprecedented partnership" would exist between EA and Nintendo, and yet you claim EA's later problems with the Wii U come from "insufficient hardware."

Maybe the people at EA just don't know how to read, and thought the dev kits were telling them higher specs than they were

Maybe they realized there isn't an audience for EA games on Wii U. Maybe Nintendo demanded some kind of exclusive game and EA refused?

How can you suddenly decide there is no audience before the console is released? Don't even mention the Wii, because EA made this statement prior to the Wii U's launch, which was obviously during the Wii's lifetime.

EA just doesn't like Nintendo. Some things are just that simple. Whether its because of Nintendo's past practices regarding 3rd parties or not, EA just doesn't like doing business with them. If EA actually cared, they would take the time to build an audience, because waiting for one to magically materialize is an example of stupid business practices. Must be why EA has been posting losses lately.
