At that rate they would probably be selling the hardware at a loss. Sony wants to sell the hardware at a profit and get more profits from digital downloads. I don't think we'll ever see a PS3 for $199 or less with a hard drive. Sony should put out a $199 console with ~64GB of flash memory. That's plenty of space for the average user. |
LMAO! You have got to be kidding, right? What do you think the Super Slim was for? It cut costs of production down dramatically from the Slim, which was already selling at a profit when they lowered the price to $250 (if only a slight one) in 2011. Trust me, you will see a $199 PS3 this year, whether it be from the introduction of the 12GB SKU or just a price cut to their existing SKUs. And you will see a $150 one either in 2014 or 2015. And probably a $99-$129 one in the last year or so of the PS3's lifetime.
And as for your memory statement, why spend $30 bucks on 64GB worth of flash drives, when you could pay $50 for a decent 500GB HDD? Sure, it's not portable, but that's nearly 8x the storage capacity.
