The original was very overrated and nobody really want's a sequel for it.

That is a very easy statement to prove false, as I would really want it

Also, I would argue the game was very underrated.  The fact that it is one of the few original xbox games that are available on xbox live proves that the game has a following!

The game probably lost tons of money on the original X-Box they put it on live to recoup some of their losses.

how could it have lost tons of money?  games back then only needed to sell like 100k to make a profit and it sold 700k

I'm pretty sure that the average game had to sell a lot more then a 100K to make a profit last generation.  Also Jade Emipire was a lot more ambitious then your average game last generation so I'm sure it was a lot more expensive to make.

no, 100k was generally the break even point last gen, look

This go through some of the costs of this gen and last gen.  It talks about how game development costs rose from 3-5 mill a game to 15-30mil a game.  For a game that costs 15 mil it would have to sell 500k to break even and 30 mil would be 1 mil to break even.  Now, lets just for the sake of argument say Jade Empire cost 15 mil to make (3 times the average cost to make a game).  It would have to sell around 500k to break even, which it did.  It was also published by microsoft which meant they didn't have to pay a licensing fee, so even more profit.  Not to mention all the sales and money made off of the pc and xbox 360 ports.  Jade Empire has more than likely sold over a million units...

Basically, there really isn't anyway the game lost money.  Heck, even most games that sell 700k this gen make money.
