Well, there is more evidence to support it then say... legal gun ownership. In that at least it correlates inside countries. People who comit violent crimes are more likely to play violent videogames then your average person.
Which is what you would use. You don't use comparisons of other nations because cultures are far to different.
As an example if there are more lactose intolerant people in Wisconsin then Japan. That doesn't prove that there is no correlation between being lactose intolerant and not eating cheese. It's just the Japanese culture of eating cheese is less then that of Wisconsin.
There is evidence there if you want to look at it that way. Of course i'd suggest it's HIGHLY more likely that violent people like to play violent games, because violent people like violence... and that playing violent videogames is the dependent variable, not the independent one... and instead these people would be touturing squirrels or something.
