It could go both ways. Fans always overhype new consoles, that usually never means the console will sell like cupcakes. We could see a Vita situation again, where fans were hyping the console and it haven't meet expectation (sales wise). The same thing happened with the 3DS, the only difference it's that the 3DS is doing well now, but that's a different argument.
Too early to say without knowing release date, games, price or pretty much anything about the console. I think the price (even more so than games) will be the main factor that will decide if the competitor's consoles are in trouble.
