There are literally a thousand things that factor into gun violence in America. People try to boil it down to a few things like the guns themselves and video games, and indeed they factor in, but IMO they are a very small factor. For my money, the most primary factors are the parenting, the media, and the overall environment, which in some ways overlap. The guns are merely the tools. The people that use them are the problem.
We are all born without environment, without morals, without ideas. Those ideas get planted through our environment, and much of that comes from the violence that is shown through the news media, and of our aggressive nature in war. America leads by example, and we always seem to be involved with some war. That definitely trickles down to the public. Parental abuse is also a part of it, which messes with the child's head and inflames aggression.
I don't buy into the idea of video games enhancing or encourages violence. Video games are merely a form of entertainment. If anything, video games help to RELIEVE aggression and violence, and from my view probably prevent real life violence. If people are so illogical that they allow video games to corrupt them into real life violence, than they are an accident waiting to happen anyway.
Pointing the finger at video games, or even the guns themselves, fails to go anywhere near the ROOT of the problem.
