I never recalled saying that nintendo was the ONLY one innovating, I just said that lots of innovations, and pretty much the way we play is due to them.
I may be wrong but sega was one of the first ones to used Disc based media, and on backward compatibility, I know it is not exacly the same, but I do recall a little device called Super Game Boy, which allowed to play ALL game boy games on the Super Nes, ages before PS2 and backward compatibility.
You have to know the history otherwise, you will be easily amazed, Online gaming and online stuff has been there way before microsoft, the SuperNes itself had the satellaView, which had a lot of features Microsoft calls so Innovative.
