Quality over quantity, anyone? Ouya will be dead on arrival. We've seen this before. N-Gage? Gizmondo? WonderSwan? NeoGeo? Philips CDi? Jaguar?

C'mon. Don't insult your own intelligence and pretend like Ouya has a chance at being successful. The Big 3 have a complete monopoly on console games, and there's no sensible reason for any publisher to put anything more than token support on such a historically-impossible market to break into.

You're talking about horsepower.  "Best" doesn't necessarily equate only to graphical sophistication.  For instance, what use does a high-spec machine like the Vita have if there is so little software support?  High-spec devices are merely expensive paper-weights without solid software support to back it up.  Software sells hardware, not the other way around.

When speaking of the "best machine" on the market, it is more typical to be describing the amount of high-quality software available for the system that all other consoles pale in comparison to.  Graphical superiority has never helped a system become a market leader.  In fact, most of the time, lower-spec machines with more attractive software attract the most market share.

Were you  around when the Neo Geo was out?  I remember the console.  We were excited for it.  It had good games.  Itespecially had great fighting games.  Fighting games at the time were as popular as shooters are today.

I really wanted one but we were too young to afford it.  The Sega Genesis, the console that "won" that generation is one of my favourite consoles of all time.  I loved the Super Nintendo too.  I'm saying if SNK's Neo Geo had been competitive on price, it would have done very well.  When we went to arcades, we were playing SNK games.  You can't say quality over quantity and say the Neo Geo was poor quality.  It simply wasn't true in any way.

I'm 25, so yes I was around when the Neo Geo was out, but like you I was too young to know at the time.  But I don't think it's right to say Genesis won the console generation during the Genesis/SNES era.  SNES outsold the Genesis by like 20 million units, so I don't know where you're getting the "Genesis won" thing from.

That's a discussion for another thread...

That's a cop-out if ever I've heard one.  There isn't a thread about Genesis vs SNES unless you make one, therefore this discussion ends prematurely because you are unable to offer any kind of rebuttle.
