We are more intelligent because we know more than in the past, but since we/they some aren't capable (or just don't want) to make use of their knowledge we/they look dumb.
I'd agree with that, and I'd even put an example that I saw the other day: In a store there was a man (in his late 30's) trying to buy laundry soap but the shop run out of the brand he was looking for. Now a normal person would either buy another brand or leave the shop and trying to find that brand on another store. What did he do? He called his wife to ask her what to do.
Yess, he was what we call "un calzonazos", but he was also dumb.
