Anyone here playing the open beta of Dust 514? What do you guys think?

Some of my impressions:

+ No twitchy CoD style gameplay. Very, very refreshing. I'm actually concentrating more on my positioning and taking guys on one on one strategicly. Aiming is much more important now.

+ Skirmish is a pretty fun twist on conquest. I like the hacking, and the huge variety of capturable things.

+ Huge potential to customize character.

? Skill point system is... Surprisingly addicting. I really want to get my tank ;_;

? Huge variety of skills and equipment to buy. Don't fully understand the skill system yet (is it impossible for me to get everything with one character?) and don't know how redundant all the stuff is.

? Lack of explanations. I put this as a "?", because I actually sort of find this charming... It's cool to just find yourself in the middle of a really complex system and slowly understanding it bit by bit. You get a sense of accomplishment just from that.

- Maps feel copypasted and unmemorable at the same time. I'm not sure what map I'm playing at the beginning of the match, only to sort of remember the layout once I capture a few points.

- I don't like the art direction. Would have liked more contrasing colors and brighter maps. Everything looks blended together.

- Balancing. This is my biggest worry. Minigun+Heavy feels OP. High level guns and armor and the ability to purchase them with real money is "pay to play" in my opinion.

- Spawn system. Atrocious. I've had a number of moments where I just spawned and died.

- SP cap. Sort of annoying, because I normally play long sessions during the weekend, and not regularly during the week. However, Dust 514 forums seems to be leaning towards weekly, and increasing the daily cap more too.

I do have higher hopes for the game as it matures though. Especially once more people get vehicles, and more people pretty much get on a even level field with the SP and equipment, you'll probably see a lot more chaotic and varied action. Airships dropping people off at objectives, tanks facing off against each other, etc.
