You know, if we as gamers say that, of those perpetrators that did play them, violent video games didn't affect these shootings in any way then we are in just as much denial as the NRA president that blamed violent video games.

VP Biden seemed to take a very mature view of this, and I personally think it would be constructive if we did the same thing. Think about it, gamers can be more mature and realistic about this problem than the NRA extremists. That would shock everyone and give a make a very strong statement to all that we are willing and able to look for solutions no matter where they be.

give me an example of a solution

Oh you wouldn't like my solution.  It's far too honest about the state of our society as a whole and would require a fundemental change in the way many people think, myself included.  But my solution wasn't the point of my comment.  Taking a step toward honest and open discussion will help all get closer to solutions, though.

I love Zingers.  Stupid Hostess had to ruin that for me, but I digress.  You want me to have an open and honest discussion about how Zingers are killing me prematurely, well for years I didn't want to even think about that (and don't really now) so I don't even want to talk about it.  Don't even want to think about it.  Why?  Because I love Zingers, they make me feel good and there is clearly no sign that they are doing anything horrible to me, so shut up!

That's the NRA with the current gun situation.  They are the NRA, so they can't even face the possibility that the current gun situation is toxic.  Anything else is a compromise to everything they want to believe.
