I'm just happy that a first-party publisher is treating a massive home console JRPG as a flagship, system-selling release. Progress!

Does this mean they're going to actually publish it in all territories for a worldwide simultaneous release? That's the minimum bar for consideration of that title.

I wouldn't go that far. We normally can't even expect a simultaneous release for a Final Fantasy or Pokemon title. And at least one of those two franchises typically moves systems.

That's one of the things Square did this generation to try and appeal to the West. Timely localizations so that other areas didn't feel they were being ignored. While there was a 3 month delay for XIII (it was most likely due to WW release of two versions with multiple languages), SO4 was simultaneous, and XIII-2 only had a 1.5 month wait.

if that is what you consider to be simultaneous, then I wouldn't worry very much. If X is anything like Xenoblade, it will probably be easier to localize than a recent Final Fantasy game.

Did some looking around and the longest people have waited for an FF game is ~3 months which is pretty good. Front Mission only had a week long distance between western and Japanese release. That's a far cry from the 1 year+ time it used to take.

I think we can reasonably call this another sign of progress. I think Dark Souls had a 1-2 week wait as well, another From Software-developed game. Maybe there's a connection.
