It's not necessarily what something brings to the table that's new, it's what it does with the resources it has. Heavy Rain brought more new ideas to the table than CoD, Gears, and Uncharted, and has influnced recent titles, such as The Walking Dead - but, I don't think that's enough to call it the "most influential".
Gears of War didn't really bring much new to the playing field. The camera perspective was from Resi4, the cover mechanics mimiced Kill.Switch, past games already had "good" graphics, and the story was nothing that hadn't been seen in any Alien game/flick before it. However, it's how it used those assesst that sparked an army of clones, and for that, it has been influential, yes, but not an evolution and, in my view, not the most impactful franchise of the gen.

We are not talking about which one is better or which one looks better. If that is the case then The Whicher 2 is more influential than both. What Im saying is that Gears changes the TPS genre and we both know that is true. The camera, perfected cover system, even hoarde more was all made popular by gears. And exactly what you just said that i bolded is exactly what Im saying about uncharted. It did not make those things popular. And yes Im well aware of Kill Switch and is why i said "perfected"

I haven't disagreed with what you bolded, I'm just saying that it wasn't the most influential franchise this gen (based on my examples). It perfected past ideas, agreed, but the titles I mentioned in my first post did more for the industry this gen.

More? So youre saying that by comopletely changing the TPS genre, Horde mode, and the cover system was not made popular by Gears? Whatever bro. You have no clue what you are talking about.
