Crytek probably had first refusal on Homefront due to their role as developer anyway, and even if they didn't any potential publishers would have had to renegociate terms with Crytek to move the game forward or scrap the current build and start over with a new developer. In the same way that Darksiders III probably hasn't started production and thereby detering any potential bids, this would have made the purchase of the Homefront IP to any entity besides Crytek extremely unappealing.
