Wow we are getting ahead of ourselves, we just barely started the 8th gen :p
But I agree. Nintendo is definitely working in a lot of possible ways to connect the 3DS and the Wii U and by next gen (obviously the 9th one) Nintendo will want to take it "to the next level". The union of their console and handheld departments in a strong indicator of this.
