Whenever someone says that it tells me they were never a DMC fan to begin with.
DMC1 was made by Team Little Devils, for reasons that arn't relevant DMC2, 3, and 4 were made by different developers from in house Capcom.
None of the sequels were true sequels to the original game. DMC2 and 4 were espeically divergent from the style of the first game. With Dante being turned into the camp jester of the series for the 4th installment.
I've been a fan of these series from the first game, and the reality of the situation is Capcom never made a sequel to that game, the original creators of the series never made sequels. And frankly none of the games were worthy successors to the first game. Which currently still holds the highest metacritic after all these years.
These people complaining to me are not fans at all. They probably only played a bit of 3rd and 4th games, or even just the 4th game. If they were really fans of the series they would have never accepted the way Capcom deviated the series from its roots with DMC2, 3 and 4. Especailly not DMC4 which was a complete rejection of the tone and style established in the first game.
