Do people really think the xbox is outselling the ps3 in NA because of that 12 month headstart in which it recieved no AAA games apart from Oblivion?

In terms of unit sales the launching early gave it a 7m advantage, but I'm sure sony would rather continue to make as much profit as possible as opposed to boast about ps4 unit sales. Not saying they should launch late, but a few months certainly wouldn't them much harm. People need to realise that 99% of the market does not jump onto the next gen bang wagon as soon as it arrives.

Most importantly what that 12 months did along with the fact that when the PS3 landed it came with a high price that virtually gave them even more of a head start, it helped them consolidate LIVE , so they ended up with a large number of gamers who felt invested with the network not just the console and this in turn meant with on line booming and  connectivity the next big thing , a lot of people in homes and campus dorms across the country who where deciding on a console went with the one their mates where on , and with the price of the PS3 and Sony playing catch up with a fledgling PSN that meant LIVE and the 360 .

As to the future of PS3 and 720 and what  it would mean in terms of advantage to launch first is to me up in the air , we had the rise of networked systems this gen that gave launching early an added advantage that wasn't there before ,  with the next gen you now have a lot of people who have invested a lot of time and energy into LIVE/ PSN  , how they use this fact to try to not to just move their existing customers over to next gen but also gain new sales will be interesting  , i feel the % of people who change systems from one gen to the next will drop next gen , what do you think .
