Many Wii owners were multi-console owners. I hope the majority were otherwise the missed out on some of gaming's best gems. With that, wouldn't it be fair to assume that many Wii U owners likely already own consoles capable of running Wii U's best titles already?

As a Miiverse fan like yourself, When i read the comments about Arkham City etc. I get the vibe that the players are really wowed by the games, As if they are experiencing them for the first time. I suspect there are people with WiiU that were Wii only owners last gen.

Yeah, that's obviously true.  But when you consider how many people are in the communities (thousands) and how the games are actually selling, I still think that a lot of people fit the other category, as well.  I mean, look how many people post about Xbox 360 and PS3 in Miiverse.  And my Wii U alone has four different accounts.  At this point, it's hard to tell if most Wii U owners were Wii Only last gen.  I still suspect that most were owners of at least one of the "HD twins".
