One point I see, most games are not able to effectively utilize more than 4 CPU cores, so I assume a portion of the cores will be used for background tasks, kinect, in game skype, and other general compute/os tasks outside of the game. If this is the case, a 1.6GHz core is not the 'beast' CPU that some expected, especially if only a portion of the 8 cores will actually be used by the game. That being said, I think the architecture of the newer systems will lend itself to games starting to offload some code to the powerful GPU, so all 3 systems will be similar in architecture (slower clocked, lower power cores with a higher powered GPGPU), though XB and PS4 will certainly have more CPU cores and somewhat better GPU's (as expected). Having 8 cores is not necessarily to give the games more CPU grunt (though these cores will be much better and more efficient than the 3.2Ghz cores in the 360), but to provide more threads for background tasks/kinect IMO. It's also just a rumor, but similar to a lot of the other (reasonable) rumors we've seen. |
They're copying each others,of course it's similar
Well,i agree Birimabu, guess i need to ignore all rumors either, not just keep downplaying, also very boring.
