Don't count on it, both amd and nvidia have released rebranded gpus in the past.

Of course they have, mostly to save money or it's not financially feasible or to meet contractual obligations.

However it's already been verified that AMD will be launching OEM 8000 series of GPU's which are rebranded 7000 parts, the real 8000 parts will arrive and will be new hardware.

The reason why they did this is actually very simple, OEM's like Dell, Acer, Asus, HP etc'. Have a cycle of releasing new machines on certain dates and they like to have new hardware to go into it, even if it's only just the name of the hardware that is changed, the average joe isn't going to know any different and will fall for the "Radeon 8950" name and snap it up.

There isn't any point arguing about this particular point as it's already been confirmed by AMD for awhile now. :P
Besides, my Radeon 7970's are holding me back, I would *love* 3x Radeon 8970's with a large juicy performance lead over my current cards. :)

I hope so. I recently bought a beast game pc with GTX670, so I'm good for atleast a year. When the new GK110s come out, i'll definetly upgrade.

And btw 7970 holding you back? :/
