Ok look. Sony wants this to be like Smash bros. Smash bros gave me detailed stories behind characters, which persuaded me to buy some of their games. I understand that I would've never become a Fire Emblem fan if it wasn't for Marth, never played metroid until I saw samus sitting at Gamestop at 7.99 and thinking "huh I should try that". I can totally understand why Sony wants this, the Smash games alone sold a huge amounts on Nintendo games indirectly. Smash games sold 25 mil, I can assure you that it indirectly sold 25 mil more. But seriously? It's just wayyyyyyyy too obvious. And people know that. |
1.) Nintendo actually named it that in Japan? WTF!?! that name is so wack!! "Smash Bros" sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better than "Nintendo All Stars". "PlayStation All stars Battle Royale" is a wack ass name too. The only part of the name "PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale" i like is the bolded
2.) oh come on.. there is nothing wrong with them using 2d fighting style stages. Nobody gets mad at Smash Bros for using 2d fight style stages like all the other multiple fighting games before it(Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter etc) That's like people getting mad at games like puppeteer and Little Big Planet for being 2d side scrollers like other games before it
3.) lol there is nothing wrong with items that have similar effects to other games LMAO. lol what if Nintendo sued sega for having rings in Sonic as the equivalent to coins in Mario LOL What if Ninty sued them because the sparkly box makes Sonic invincible for a short time the same way the star makes Mario invincible for a short time LOL
C'mon now..
I mean Battle Royale DOES draw major inspiration from Smash Bros so you would think that 1 would realise that things would be similar...
4.) why do you think it's obvious? BECAUSE SMASH BROS WAS THE MAIN INSPIRATION FOR THIS GAME so of course it's going to look the same
and do you want to know what's funny? I've seen people buy this game BECAUSE IT IS LIKE Smash Bros.
I have some friends who are just like me(they play PlayStation AND Nintendo) but they don't go on game sites like VGchartz and what not so they are the typical people who mainly only buy the mainstream games like COD,Assassins Creed and some other games here and there. So i started downloading a bunch of demos on the PlayStation they had and i downloaded a lot of PS exclusives. so i got stuff like Killzone 2 and 3, Fat Princess,Flower,echocrome, The Unfinished Swan and a few other games. Do you know what these motherfuckers liked out of thes games? They surprisingly fell in LOVE with Flower, Fat Princess and The Unfinished Swan lol. They didn't like Killzone 2 because of the controls and they they didn't like Killzone 3 all too much but they were playing it enough though. So later i was on the ps3 browser and i was thinking of some games so i said "you guys know what Smash Bros is, right?" and they were all like "yea"(it was like 11 of us... 4 girls and 7 guys... we were all drinking and what not) and then i said "have you heard of the Smash Bros game with the PlayStation Characters?" and they all said "no" but were interested to see what i was talking about so i pulled up the Battle Royale Intro
man these motherfuckers were hypnotised by this intro lol. they were all naming the characters as they appeared and what not(i made sure not to say who was in it before they watched)
they were like
Jak and Ratchet pop up -->"is that Jak? why is he shooting at ratchet & Clank?"
Nathan and Sly pop up --> *everybody gasps when drake kicks ratchet off the rail* none of them recognised drake though but a few of them knew who Sly was
Fat princess and Cole pop up --> EVERYBODY went crazy when Fat Princess popped up(mainly because i had just previously got them into it) and only 1 person knew who Cole was but seemed to like him since he had electrical powers
Sir Dan and Radec pop up --> a few were like "oh that's that skeleton guy from the graveyard game that was on ps1!!" and everybody recognised Radec because we had just played Killzone
Big Daddy and Sackboy pop up --> they recognised Big Daddy because we also played Bioshock 1(i brought my copy over) and only 1 person recognised Sackboy but they all laughed when little sackboy took Big Daddy down.
Nariko and Dante pop up --> a few recognised the "red head" girl from the game that they wanted to play but never got around to it(Heavenly Sword) and EVERYBODY knew who Dante was. 1 of them almost had an orgasm when he seen Dante lol he was like " Holy Sh!t!! Dante is in this!?!?!"
Heihachi and Toro pop up --> everybody knew who the "Tekken" guy was but they didn't know who the fuck Toro was lol
Spike and Parappa pop up --> everybody knew who they both were but they referred to spike as "that guy in the ps1 game you caught monkeys with" and everybody FULLY remembered Parappa by his name, surprisingly
Cole and Raiden show up --> everybody only remembered cole as the electrical guy from earlier in the video lol and only me and 1 other person knew who Raiden was. the majority atleast remembered who Snake was when i mentioned that Raiden was from Metal Gear Solid
Sweet Tooth and Kratos showed up --> most of them remembered Sweet Tooth as "that clown from that shooting car game back on the ps1" and of course EVERYBODY just instantly knew who Kratos was
and after watching it THEY started looking up gameplay videos of it on youtube and they seemed to be so blown away by how the levels were(like the Hydra bursting through the platform in metropolis).
The REAL funny thing is that they pretty much wanted to see this game because i said "Smash Bros with PlayStation characters"
