Its funny how even after a first profitable year in the console industry some of you still think Microsoft needs to start panicking and run around their office screaming with their hands in the air. New consoles will come but as long as Xbox 360 is selling games, there won't be need to launch the next one. Some of you may not realize the ass whooping 360 does with console sales and software every week in North America...without a price drop...and without waiting for a magical "exclusive".

And jankazimierz, I apologize. I jumped the gun with my remarks before as I thought you just wanted to put down the 360 without even owning one.

I can't believe the silly article above started a debate...lol

Here's the thing, though: MS isn't the type of company to sit happily in second place, even if they are making money.

They're going to shoot for the #1 spot no matter what. That spot currently belongs to Nintendo and that fact won't be changing this gen without some kind of freak miracle. Nintendo has word of mouth and positive press on their side. Iwata would basically have to come out on stage and eat a baby to tarnish Nintendo's image right now.

And as the Wii continues to sell like hotcakes, even the most curmudgeon 3rd parties will start developing for it because there's no amount of FUD the MS executives can barf up which will erase a 10 million+ gap in install base in favor of the Wii.

This article is partially right for completely wrong reasons: MS WILL likely release another console very early, but I expect it will be a console equipped with a control scheme which looks startlingly like a Wii remote + nunchuk.

MS will gun for 1st, and since 1st isn't the typical "graphical beast with standard controller" anymore, it means they'll probably be changing their aim.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
