I find this very amusing. That you think this at least. Don't misunderstand this as me attacking on you, you just really don't understand the mechanics. Any first time player will make that honest mistake.

Anyone familiar with FF8 will tell you to just junction the shit out of your GF early on to make your physical attacks extremely powerful.  Not just Attack, but all your stats. You just need to grind for several hours to unlock all the GF abilities and use them to your advantage, especially the item refine abilities that turn items into magic stock (that you then use to junction). I can become extremely overpowered without even leaving Balamb garden in Disc one.

It took me untill disk 2 to get the hang of the junction system :P i pretty much avoided it for a while, because it's quite confusing

 

Anyways, i'm a noobie when it comes to final fantasy, so gf spaming was needed for me, although i didn't use it for every battle

anyways the main problem with the gf's is the dramatic entrance they make, it really takes for ever D:
