So what if you're a Sony fan?  Do you think MS really can undercut Sony on price and not lose money? Do you expect them the money they lost on RROD to lose on undercutting the ps4 this time? Their xbox adventure still hasn't been profitable and I think MS is getting fed up with that. The 360 had a year headstart and was way cheaper than PS3. It was the reason 360 was so popular. People buy whats cheaper. MS was not a newcomer anymore when the 360 launched, its their 2nd console, Sony's 2nd console was the PS2.
Sony can't compete in a head to head battle, huh? The last time that happened was between PS3 and Wii. It seems your logic is flawed, neither the Wii vs PS3 nor the PS1 vs N64 comparison proves your point. The N64 launched in 1996 and 97 in EU while PS1 in 95. The Wii was immense popular at launch due to the motioncontrols and PS3 being 600 dollaz and supply constraints. How do these launches relate to 720vsPS4? Do you expect PS4 to launch a year later? Do you expect a Wii like 720 and a PS4 at double the price?

And lol, if those rumors about Kinect 2 being bundled with every 720 is true you can forget dreaming of MS putting a comparable console at the same price, it just won't happen.

Actually he has a strong and valid point despite you taking some parts of his post out of context, MS may have lost money on their Xbox adventure but they have more then enough to go through another gen of it if it means derailing Sony plus I hear Live recouped a lot of money for them, the part about the 360 proves his point because Xbox as a brand was still new literally only 4 years old when the 360 arrived and now they've got similar numbers to the PS brand which will come into play should MS undercut them because Xbox has established themselves as a strong alternative. His point about head to head is that it has often looked like Sony take some considerable time to come up with a plan B to deal with unfavourable situations, out of all the 3 they still don't have a proper answer for the new market that arose this gen either, don't care about all this mumbo jumbo about focusing on the cores because they're now the minority.

If the PS4 and X3 launch near eachother it won't be the domination you're touting, with the improved strength of the Xbox brand PS4 will not only have to deal with what MS throws at them but try and catch up with the U which is actually outselling the PS3 in Japan despite not having an established library. A concern I share with Scrooge in this case is the head to head scenario, Sony are alright late in a gen but I'm not sure MS and Nintendo will let them reach full steam, Nintendo seem to have Japan locked down with good success in the US where MS are the top choice which leaves the EU which despite being the biggest region is very erratic and been hit hard by the economy. The is also an issue of the commercial strength of first party titles which is a focal point because GT takes 5 years to arrive and both Nintendo and MS will have several titles that will cross the 10m barrier long before then (the former will probably have ones that will cross 20m or 30m by the looks of it).

the U can afford to be a bit slower then the Wii as Nintendo normally don't take off until their second year and will have a headstart to compliment their first party arrivals and the's also a feeling of more Bayonetta 2 style moves to come as they've got the money for it, it's only having issues in the EU where we're having serious economic issues to the point that all retail in general has been declining over the past month. MS will as usual be solid with the X3 as they have a respectable position and standing as a brand, it's looking more like brawl for PS4 tbh then a domination.
