That’s really quite a sad realisation. Final Fantasy – the massive JRPG franchise has fallen from grace so much it’s actually hit rock bottom (I hope), surely it can’t get any worse. I don’t have that long of a history playing Final Fantasy games but I distinctly remember the huge fuss about FF7 & 8 back in the day. I only really started playing the remakes on PSP and DS but enjoyed all of them – it’s sad to think this is where such a distinctive franchise is at. Hopefully Square Enix can pull something good out of the bag over the next few years, I’d hate to see such a big franchise completely go to the dogs.
And worringly it's not just Square Enix – one of my childhood favourites (Theme Park) has done something very similar, just pay to win basically, no challenge and a massive sense of being ripped off.
This is why I really dislike smart phones…
