Anyway, you could start by talking to a family member that is a Christian or going to a local church and sitting down with a pastor. They are VERY easy to talk to and if anything are great therapists hah. If anything just pray by yourself and see what happens. I feel like praying has helped guide me, so maybe it could help you too. |
1. Atheists do not believe in hell. If they believe in hell, they're not atheists.
2. Which religion do you choose? Even within Christianity, there are tons of different sects each professing their own way to get into heaven.
3. Many atheists don't believe in an afterlife what so ever. All we have is this life right here, so why would we spend it in an attempt to please a being that we don't actually believe in? Just to hedge our bets?
4. Most importantly, it's not a matter of choice. As an atheist, religion simply doesn't make sense to me. It's not like I made a choice based on afterlife possibilities. I simply developed a world view that makes sense to me. If I chose to follow a religion as a shot in the dark, it would simply be going through the motions and faking it, and I suppose that if there was an omniscient being he would see through my ruse.
