Xbox is widely popular in the US because:
1.) It's an FPS haven.
2.) It sports a controller that's fitting for an FPS
3.) In a world where Xbox and PS3 are virtually equal, US moms, dads, and grannies are more likely to pick up the American product.
This of course coming from a person residing far outside of the U.S...lol
