The biggest surprise for me is the omissions though.  No Squaresoft, Enix or Square-Enix (what the fuck).  No Rare.  No Retro Studios.  No Psygnosis.  No Insomniac Games.  No Japan Studio.  None of Namco's teams.  And the most glaring omissions of all: NO BULLFROG OR MAXIS.  Ugh, thanks Edge.  I'M GONNA GO AWAY AND BE ANGRY NOW AND YOUR RIDICULOUS & PRETENTIOUS LIST.

Bullfrog doesn't even exist anymore >_>

I realised while I was away that they're all non-defunct developers.  Which makes the list all the more stupid.  They appear to be judging it on contributions made to the industry in the past year or two, but they named the list "Top 50 Greatest Developers".

So if Minecraft had come out 6 years ago, or The Sims had come out last year, then suddenly it'd be a completely different list.  Which again, is just ridiculous.  Either measure it on contributions made to the industry as a whole, or name your goddamn list "Top 50 Greatest Developers of 2012" or similar.  If Playdead release a complete turd of a next game, all of this would suddenly seem a bit silly because they made one good game and were praised to the high heavens, but clearly didn't have the vision to know where they were going next.

Also, Rockstar San Diego & Atlus were two more conspicuous absences that I thought of.
