Ya, I just saw mentions of an 8 core Jaguar CPU in the thread and decided to address why that seems highly unlikely. Xbox 360 and PS3 launched in 2005/2006 and you'd think by now a ton of games would be multi-threaded but they are not. Most games still don't take advantage of more than 4 cores. With a GTX670, you are mostly GPU bottlenecked with anything beyond a 4-core CPU.
The architecture (or instructions per clock) matters more than # of cores. 2nd generation i5/i7s have no trouble outperforming 6 core Phenom II and a 6-core 1st generation i7 in games:

Despite Intel having 4-core CPUs in 2007, Xbox 360 being a 3-core 6 threaded CPU and PS3 being a 1 core with 6 supporting SPE engines, here we are in early 2013 and almost no modern games use more than 4 threads. For that reason, it would be a huge gamble to go with an 8 core CPU based on weak Jaguar cores. I could see some compromised approach by going with a lower clocked 8-core IBM PowerPC or even an AMD FX 8 core.
