Which is why companies with past glories are excluded (like Square Enix or Rareware).

Then Valve shouldn't be on this list either since DOTA, Team Fortress and Portal 2 are not really innovative and do not push any boundaries. Same goes for Bungie (past glories) and Riot games (milking their one big game, which isn't innovative at all).

DOTA 2 is really popular and is shaping the e-sport world (same thing for League of Legends for Riot games).

Valve keeps on releasing new amazing game and hasn't made a major mistake as a developer. The role Steam has on the increasing popularity of digital media and indie titles is noticable.

Bungie is working on something that looks great so far. They're still actual.

DOTA is still nothing special, it's just a me too game copying from Riot. Steam has nothing to do with Valve as a developer. Valves actuial game output is very sparse. Retro hasn't made a major mistake as a developer either, same goes for polyphony digital. Both companies are very probably working on something right now, so they are still relevant, either.

I just don't see any consistency in applying their citeria in this list, it's jumping all over the place.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
