The short here is, when you are a company as large as Microsoft or Sony, it is your job to know the problems that can develop, and prevent them. If you don't know the solder in question would cause problems, it is your incompetency, not others. And no one is holding a gun to the head of Microsoft or Sony to tell them to be in the videogame console business.
The reality is that the RROD was caused by an incompetent response to the new EPA lead-free solder laws. The way you said is that it was CAUSED by the laws, when in fact, the laws don't build the videogame systems.
